Historical Gardens

The Botanic Garden seeks to preserve our community’s history by honoring its distinct past. As we are proud of the grounds and buildings that once were the Traverse City State Hospital, we are also proud of the site’s future that we are helping shape. From restoring and repurposing previous Hospital farm buildings to upholding the long-standing legacy of local agriculture and carrying on traditions as old as Native American ceremonial plant use, The Botanic Garden offers a wondrous mix of old and new.
